Description
• The candidate will provide overall leadership in managing and executing the work flow through the Scoping and Estimating process. • The candidate will have to interface with Substation Engineering, Protection and Controls Engineering and Transmission Line Engineering. • The candidate will work with substation designs ranging in voltage from 4.16 kV up through 525 kV. • Projects will involve both new facilities and modifications to existing facilities. • The role requires basic working knowledge of substation equipment, problem solving skills, communication skills, team facilitation skills and interpersonal skills to allow for effective interaction in a strong team environment. • Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. • Efforts include but are not limited to general arrangement development, substation bus design, structural/foundation layout and design, lighting, lightning protection, and grounding. • The candidate will leverage existing documentation as it pertains to existing facilities and onsite inspections to assess and identify scope requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Lead Scoping and Estimating Process activities 2. Evaluate and develop tracking systems. 3. Develop and maintain effective estimating tools 4. Receive and track Project Scoping and Estimating requests 5. Identification of all facilities impacted by a project request. 6. Facilitation of development of engineered solutions 7. Facilitation of all required scoping effort. 8. Develop basic detailed scopes based on applying corporate standards and industry practice 9. Development of project cost estimates 10. Track estimate quality against actual costs. 11. Documentation of required project scope and associated cost 12. Communication of results to stake holders.
Comments Qualifications:
• Either 7 or more years experience and a graduate from a college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 10 or more years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 15 or more years of equivalent experience with no degree. • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Power Point ) • Ten or more years of progressive work experience in substation design which includes but not be limited to bus scheme selection, substation equipment selection and application, station layout, grounding, surge/over voltage protection, and lightning shielding. • General awareness around substation protection and control schemes. • Skilled in principles of Project/Construction Management. • Experience in project estimating and proposal development. • Cad Skills (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred with basic awareness of Micro-station platforms.) • Working knowledge and ability to apply various industry codes and standards relating to substations. • Substation construction field experience
