PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: • Conducts, maintains, tests and repairs mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. • Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. • Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment within the printing and packaging industry. • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment. • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements. • Advises operators of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components. • Informs appropriate management and line operators of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved. • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment. • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed. • Assists all departments with technical troubleshooting. • Fabrication/Welding • Inspect electrical systems in machines, equipment, and plant as scheduled. • Install electrical equipment • Read and understand electrical schematics. • Complete work from work orders. • Work with a wide variety of minor electrical systems. • IT / Computer / Networking • Work in a safe manner • Must follow all safety procedures. • Performs other duties as required
EXPERIENCE/REQUIRED SKILLS: • Must be educationally certified through a tech or trade school beyond High School • Must be highly safety conscious. • Proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas. • A thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes. • Willing to work any shift and overtime as required. • Computer, IT experience/operation and PLC programming a plus • Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.

Experience required: • Previous experience in this field is required.
Mechanical ability: • Must be familiar with the workings of machines and their components and have an aptitude for mechanical work.
Math ability: • Must be able to do simple math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Read: • Must be able to read well enough to fully comprehend all forms and paperwork associated with this job.
Write: • Must be able to write legibly enough to fill out all forms and paperwork associated with this job.
Climbing: • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. • Body agility is emphasized.
Balancing: • Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
Kneeling: • Bending legs at the knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Standing: • Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Pushing: • Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
Pulling: • Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Lifting: • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
Sedentary work: • Exerting up to 10 pounds in force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Close vision: • Must be able to see and inspect figures and objects clearly at distances close to the eyes and accurately determine small flaws or defects in said objects.
Distanced vision: • Must be able to see and inspect figures and objects clearly within arms reach of the eyes to accurately work with said objects.
Subject to hazards: • Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals. |
