QUALIFICATIONS: •The MT or MLT must be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or an equivalent MT, MLS, or CLS certification with appropriate training and a minimum of one year of experience. •Rates must be provided for:
Board Certification: •MT's and MLT's must be certified as a MT, MLS or CLS by the ASCP or AMT. MT's are required to have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory or related science. •They must also have a completion of medical technology clinical practice program and have all licenses, permits, and certifications as required by law and this contract. •Phlebotomist •The candidate must be a qualified, current experience within last year as a phlebotomist. •This individual will accession specimens all types of incoming specimens and draw blood for inpatients and outpatients with highest quality standards for correctly identifying patients to ensure no errors occur. •During duty days/hours at the VAMC, the contractor shall be fully committed to VA patients and under the direction/supervision of the Supervisor of Phlebotomy. •The contract individual is expected to devote the time necessary to deliver the highest quality services to the VA patients.
CLINICAL TASKS/DUTIES: •Principal responsibilities involve duties of drawing bloods following policies for positive patient identification for inpatients and outpatients as well accession all incoming specimens. Manual dexterity, keen observational skills and sound judgment are required to correctly identify patients prior to venipuncture. a. Maintain congenial relationships with all VA staff. b. Participate in other areas as assigned by the Supervisor of Phlebotomy.
Technical Proficiency •Contract personnel (s) shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently. •Contractor shall provide documents upon request of the CO/COR to verify current and ongoing competency, skills, certification and/or licensure related to the provision of care, treatment and/or services performed. •Contractor shall provide verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences including any gaps in educational history for all contract personnel(s) and contract personnel (s) shall be responsible for abiding by the Facility's Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and regulations (referenced herein) that govern medical staff behavior.
