• Implements plans, develops, directs, and evaluates infection prevention within the facility. • Investigates infection control problems and arranges follow-up care for residents exposed to infectious diseases. • Responsible for surveillance, tracking, and reporting of infections and/or outbreaks. • Conducts rounds, discussing and monitoring infection control practices with staff • Collect infection data from departments and maintain records for each case. • Trains staff on the implementation of infection control practices. • Investigates incidents of infection and reports such incidents to the Director of Nursing • Ensures availability of supplies required for infection control • Oversees and implements all COVID-19 policies, COVID-19 prevention programs, and follows and implements all NJDOH and CDC guidelines for the facility. • Develops education programs in response to infection control needs identified through Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement, rounding, and center quality measures • Conducts on-going surveillance using the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) infection criteria, documentation, and investigation of hospital-acquired infections through review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, consultation requests, etc. • Conducts environmental rounds in all inpatient areas weekly. • Participates in quality assurance performance improvement activities by assessing, monitoring, and measuring hospital-acquired infections and evaluating outcomes on a continuous basis. • Serves as a knowledgeable and available resource on infection control practices and policies to patients, families, and staff. • Professional organization skills.
