Job Description
Structural Engineer

• As a Structural Engineer at client, you will support the design and development of mechanical and structural components used in our conveyor and material handling equipment (MHE) systems.
• This entry level role is ideal for early career engineers looking to build strong foundations in structural analysis, steel design, and CAD modeling while working alongside experienced engineers.

• In this role, you will contribute to the development of conveyor MHE structural designs, assist in creating drawings and models, and participate in reviews and basic structural analysis.
• You will collaborate with cross functional engineering teams and gain hands on experience with industry-standard tools, methods, and design practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in developing structural design requirements and specifications
• Support the design of header hanger steel and other structural components for MHE systems
• Create and update CAD models and drawings using AutoCAD
• Perform basic structural calculations and assist with analysis tasks under guidance
• Participate in design reviews and cross functional team meetings
• Help ensure designs meet quality, safety, and performance standards
• Learn and stay current with relevant industry standards, tools, and technologies

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Civil, or related field)
• Foundational understanding of structural or mechanical design principles
• Exposure to CAD software (AutoCAD preferred)
• Basic analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Willingness to learn and grow in a fast paced engineering environment

WE VALUE

• Coursework, projects, or internships involving structural or steel design
• Familiarity with analysis tools such as STAAD Pro or similar software
• Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Interest in conveyor or industrial automation systems
• Strong attention to detail and desire to continuously improve

Questions

1) Tell me about a recent project or internship where you created or updated 2D drawings or models in AutoCAD. What was your workflow from requirements to final deliverables, and how did you manage revisions?
2) Describe a time you applied structural principles (loads, member sizing, steel details, or connections) and performed basic calculations or analysis—what assumptions did you make, and how did you check your work?
3) Have you used STAAD Pro or a comparable structural analysis tool in school or an internship? Walk me through what you modeled, why you chose that approach, and how you interpreted the results.
